So I had an absolute *blast* with this challenge - the prompts were just so much fun, and so perfect for this fandom, and so many talented people wrote so many lovely things in so many lovely flavours :D (I may have mentioned this before, but I have been so excited over the last month or so at being back in fandom, especially as this is such a brilliant and generous and talented and active fandom!! It has made my brain go all fizzy.)
The fandom delivered in fine style with twenty! One! Fics! And! Counting! Absolutely astonishing over the course of a week or so, well played everyone. I didn't sign up officially, but I've had such a lovely time reading a ton of stuff and commenting on things, it's been splendid. I dropped in a couple of treats because the prompts were so amazing, and in the process proved my ongoing inability to write short-form stories! >_< But! I had so much fun doing it!
They were:
Spare Parts for
ysande - because I desperately want Bertie and von Stalhein to be pals, and
A State of Temporal Grace for
rietta89 - because I wrote a slightly harrowing story about Algy and von Stalhein stuck in a hole, so I had to give it a deep-cut nerd Doctor Who title.
So I just sort of stomped in, slammed a couple of fics down on the counter, and then stomped out again :S
( Though on that theme, slightly more navel-gazey: )
In other news! I have been reading inter-war Biggles books! And oh my goodness, I had forgotten just how good and how loopy they are. It was the bit in &Co where Biggles remarks to Algy that "this is, without exception, the craziest business we were ever in" and I'm just. Biggles. BIGGLES. Have you forgotten the ( spoiler cut for 'Hits the Trail' ). I had never read 'Hits the Trail' before - I wasn't certain if I had, before I actually started it, because sometimes with the 'Biggles goes to *insert dangerous place* on *insert dangerous quest*' books I lose track of which ones I've read and which I haven't. But this. I would have remembered.
( Biggles Hits the Trail )
( Biggles & Co )
Whoops, massive mixed bag of journal content, I'm going to fling it into the void and fleeeeee to the woods to calm my brain down.
