Variations 8
Nov. 28th, 2024 01:36 pmOKAY, WE HAVE ACHIEVED CANONICAL SMUT. It only took 63k I don't know what you're complaining about.
June, 1928: Samos - Algy/von Stalhein, mention of past Algy/Biggles, suggestion of past vS/OMC; rated uhhhh I guess probably E (only for the Algy/vS). 21k, more or less. Algy and von Stalhein hang out on a Greek island for a couple of days. There is quite a lot of tourism and archaeology. Then smut.
Unrepentent fluff and feelings in some of this, because if I don't make them happy now I don't get to make them so wretchedly miserable later. Oh, and I have some illustrations if you're interested in the statues! I did take some liberties with the archaeology in this, but most of the artefacts are real, as are the waterlogged deposits.
Here's the kouros with the 'Leukios' inscription:

And here's the broken plaque with the delicate hand:

The wooden 'KALOS' statuette is fictional, though a number of wooden statuettes have been found on the site; the description was largely based on this bronze:

All these images are borrowed from the (free and legal!) PDF 'Samos: The Archaeological Museums' (John S. Latsis Foundation 2012) - highly recommended for anyone who wants to look at more pretty pictures.
Also! Franz von Leutnitz I invented for a long post-Hatchet Biggles/vS fic which has stalled at about 20k, where his main purpose in the story was to make von Stalhein miserable. I am pleased to bring him in here, if only because now people have got to know him a bit better we can all feel a bit more wretched about What Happens Later, assuming I get round to writing it one day.
